Every day I see posts on this board for at least 5 or 6 blocks or finished quilts I would love to make. And I think "I would love to know the pattern, fabric, or size". I think it would be so helpful if we would post all this up front when we ask for help on a block or when we post a pic of a completed quilt or project. It would save a lot of time reading thru posts or waiting for the poster to respond. It would also help eliminate all of us asking the same question multiple times. What do you think?

A lot of us make our own designs as we go along so the proper info is not always available because we haven't wrote anything on paper. Then there those of us that get so excited and want to share that we forget to measure the quilt size. I'm included in these. :-)

I will be sure to post this information in the future whenI get up enough nerve to actually show my quilts.

I thought that it was a rule of the forum that you have to credit the designer, etc. I try to remember to do it.

However, I WILL say this --- I have posted pictures, credited the designer, stated where I got the pattern, etc...and STILL have people asking me where I got the pattern or what is the pattern!!!!

Love it....I hope your suggestions catches on!

Like a little form to fill out:

    Pattern Name:
    Pattern Source:
(Book or magazine info, web link, etc.)
    Quilt Dimensions:
    Quilt fabric:

Great idea! I'll try to do that. I don't always use a pattern, but could usually name the block(s) in the quilt.

......multiple times in the same thread, sometimes right after the info is reposted.

Then it should be mentioned "my own design in process"

I think that is a great idea. If all the info is in the first (original) post, then there will be no need for anyone to ask for it. And usually, we all read the first post.

And if the info is in list form, not in a paragraph, it would be easier to spot and cut down on repeat questions.

You would be amazed at how many people just look at the pic and don't read the first post!

You are right, but if the pix catches my interest, I would make sure I read the post in case the info was included. Just makes sense, right?

Super idea! Usually I credit the designer, but like the whole info list.

Those brilliant enough to make design could just say "Designed by ME"

That's a great idea! I'll try to remember. I do appreciate it so much when other people include all that information, but my synapses don't always fire on time.

I agree wholeheartedly! So many beautiful blocks and patterns, but not enough time to figure out the names! This is a great idea - thanks for bringing it up!
