I have read about the 301 being a great machine and thought I would do some looking on e-bay to see if there were any selling and of course there were. Bid on a couple of the black short beds and was outbid soon-and decided I would just look at some Goodwill stores in the Kansas City area while up there going to a Dr's appointment today. Before I went to the city, I needed to go to the bank and get a little cash. As I came out of the parking lot of the bank I spy a newly opened little flea market and guess what? I stopped and asked if they had any older sewing machines and the gentleman said they have one and it is kinda older in a cabinet. Had never seen a cabinet like it and asked to open and see the machine. TaDa--a tan 301!! Plugged her in and off she went. $55.00. I am a happy camper! Checked the ebay black one I had last bid on and it sold for $242.00 plus shipping. So glad I saw that little shop. My camera is not working at the moment maybe I can send a picture later.

That is wonderful! Always check out thrift shops and curbs!

I have 1 babylock, sewing and embroidery, 2 janome 8000 and 9000 sewing and embroidery.. 1 singer treadle that my Grammy used n so do I... and about 5 old singers, of all different makes... Hey, I will never drive past one on the curb nor will I turn a free one down.. You can always use them as door stops! Right? LOL
