Question catching threads

I just finished hand stitching a Xmas Tree Panel..45 x 36..background swirils, oranments and all the pine needles using embroidery thread. Will also have lights.. Have of course alot on knots which i tried my best to bury...but some breaks happen..knots are under the surface but some tails did snap off..want to make sure they stay put if in need of rinsing due to dust, etc....
To stabilize the threads can I use a fusible sheerweight stabilizer on the back? Just one large piece and iron on? (Will try to post pic but not really good at it.. keeps saying up load error)...and if so will the stabilizer stay on during a rinsing?

When I'm working on a panel I put the lightweight stabilizer on before I start any handstitching. I would think that putting the stabilizer on after would help secure the stitch ends though.

What a great idea. I am just starting to learn how to embroider and am having the same kind of problems. Never thought of the stabilizer in order to keep those threads in. Great, Great idea and yes I think it would work.

i always finish my cross stitch labels with lightweight fusable interface on the back with the idea that i am securing loose threads.

so far the only terrible thing is not being able to fix the mistakes i can see after not looking at for a while!
