Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I now have a lot of ideas. SooBDo I found the Bow Tie quilt and love it. Checked out Bonnie Hunter's site and she had several patterns that would work, including a short post on a Bow Tie quilt.

Have you tried looking through quilt magazines and books for designs you like, no matter what colors are used? I am working on two wall quilts of Christmas prints, both of which were shown in browns in the library books where I found them. Several larger pieces went into pillowcases for a craft sale. The next one I'm going to piece of Christmas scraps is a "scrappy star", which alternates hourglass and plain squares with the colors laid out so you see stars that share points between them.

I am making a quilt using this method and my christmas scraps. You will need two 4 inch squares and one 5 inch square of contrasting colors and or values for each small block, finishes at 6 1/2 inches. You will need 48 such finnished blocks to get the equivalent for twelve 12 inch finnished blocks. I have the same colors you described plus some black and some dark blue. also my fabric vary from vintage to modern. this looks so promising. I am close to finishing all 48 blocks and will hopefully start sewing them together soon. So easy and so much fun. Great stash buster. I'll try to find this thread back once I have a top sewn together.

This one has cremes or white, reds and greens. I'm making it in a class this next Monday. Will use up lots of those reds and greens you have.

If you are interested in a small project (not a quilt), google Scandanavian Stars. They are fun to make.

I saw this on facebook and then saw the same thing on Bonnie Hunter's facebook page; you can make Woven Stars also know as Scandinavian Stars for neat little items as ornaments or use as 'bows' on packages. They use 4- 3.5" strips that are 12.5" long. Google it, I love them.

Thank you for the links. I checked them all out - so many ideas. I saw a YouTube video for the Scandinavian stars and there were a couple of other videos for fabric ornaments which I particularly liked. I will try and link.
