Clamshell quilt
I am trying to use up as many of my scraps as possible, so using my accuquilt I cut up all of these 4-inch clamshells ...
Two things I am looking for:
- is there a "quick" way to sew these together? I'm sure I'm going to stab myself a thousand times pinning all these curves hahaha
- should i group by colour or just put them in as a scrappy quilt?
Thanks very much, and hope everyone is staying socially isolated and safe.

Many years ago I was watching an episode of Simple Quilts and there was a person on the show that cut a template a 1/4 inch smaller that the shell and she ironed the cut out piece over the smaller template. I can't remember if she used a small brush or a Q-tip to apply starch to the part of the fabric being turned. She used a template that was made to be used with an iron - no idea of the brand. She also sewed them on to a foundation piece of fabric so it would stay straight. The procedure stuck with me because I do plan to make one some day - it was one of the first Accuquilt dies I bought.
Do you plan to sew it all by hand? Or you could do it with an appliqué stitch on your machine.

This wasn't easy to find. I didn't find it on the site directly.

I made This clam shell quilt years ago. I used up hundreds of scraps doing it. The picture is here in my album here https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...bums20172.html it is the last picture. I did it all by hand and I don't trust myself with the machine on curves that much.
If doing it by machine now I may consider pinning and stitching just the way you are mentioning. I am a bit more confident now a days.
