OK, we get lots of mice in our basement in the fall and winter. Little critters are looking for a nice, warm place out of the weather. Of course, then my kitty has fun chasing them down and around and bringing them to mom when she's asleep in the middle of the night :? :? I just can't bring myself to kill anything so when I catch them (and I do -- using old towels which immediately go into the wash with hot water and Tide), I put them outside as far away as I can get them before they manage to escape captivity. They probably beat me back into the house

I think those little varmits can get into a crack the size of a needle!

    Henry,
Mice are a menace of the woods, they will find their way in around the water pipes or the screens that are loose. BUT if your professional told you there are no ways for them to get in then you have to check around all the water pipes. They have to have an opening to get in to get to the dog food....but get the dog and the friend out! She's not a friend or she would not have allowed this to happen.

Check with you dry cleaner for disenfectant and use colorsafe liquid bleach. White vinegar might work but you would have to immediately wash it again to get the acid from the vinegar out.

Make her pay for your lost fabrics and batting. This was carelessness on her part that has cost you more than she's worth. Raise her rent to pay for the cleaning and get her to pay for a cleaning woman for the whole house.

How much fabric did you lose and what colors would you like????
    Hugs,
    Sharon

Thanks Sharon. I lost a bunch of fabric. I had two trash bags of fabric I had to get rid of from all the poop and from what I am guessing is the mice giving birth on it, cause it was very discolored and yucky looking. Luckily I was able to wash my WIPS and they are okay.

I am still taking "inventory" on what I lost. I'm going to see what all I have after I wash everything. Remember I was...well am...a fabric hoarder.

I felt bad at first...but after a week of being soft hearted... I started using glue traps and catching them. I felt bad seeing them trying to get off the glue but I just couldn't have them in my house and spreading who knows what diseases.

If you had bunches of mice, I don't blame you!! Nasty things!! Our house is so old (built in 1907) that it would be just impossible to keep them out of here.

We caught 35 mice in the traps. The last 15 or so were babies.

If I weren't allergic to cats, I'd have already gotten me one or two.

You can always keep it outside. You would be surprised how it helps. We have lived in our home for 15 years - NEVER had a mouse inside (knock on wood). We have always had outdoor cats. And we live in the country with 3 fields around us.
