I used warm and natural and left it out of the "bound" edge side. Then when I top stitched around each page, I stitched the thinner bound edge together sort of backwards...1/2 of the pages top 1/2 bottom covers together and then folded correctly with covers on the outside and stitched again. Looked wonderful, washable, not too puffy and kids still get them out at 6 and 9!

I'm so glad to see this thread. I picked up some panels to make some books but am confused. Do you sew the batting to the wrong side of either the front or back, and then sew front to back right sides together, turn them inside out and finish the open side? Thank you!

I've made several of the cloth books and my preference is for the very thin batting. I just did a row of stitching around the outer edge and no further quilting.
