I don't like grey with other colors in a print, I think its downright ugly. I prefer bright colors. I also don't like quilts with little contrast. What's the point of doing all that piecing if you can't see the blocks in the finished quilt??

I mostly like fabrics/colors that can stand the test of time (cozy and relaxing). Six months ago, I looked at these bright modern prints and gagged. My last two projects have been so bright I need sunglasses. Hubby especially gagged over the turquoise/lime lap quilt. But, I've been having a ball and enjoy being out of my comfort zone.

Have to say though, I don't like batiks that are muddy/murky appearing, or fabrics that are yellowish green, brownish red, or redish purple. And, I despise anything with a sock monkey print or cabbage roses.

I agree here. I think that this is basic as well and I agree. I hate it when I can't see the design that was intended.

Send ALL your civil war fabrics to me then! Those are my favorites! Tho I do like scrappies... & best of all? Scrappies made from civil war repros!

While it's not a color combo per se I'm waaaaaaaaaaay over the fabrics that look like the 60's (I'm thinking like Amy Butler stuff). Aqua & red is going to get real old real quick, too, I think. And I'm way over brown with pink or lime or light blue. I just think quilts made from those are going to be dated too quickly. IMHO...

I love all colors and patterns, not much I don't like in fabric. However I have recently realized that I don't want to make another quilt right now unless it has lots of white in it. I also like bright color, clear colors not muted. I have been restoring 1930's quilts that I bought on eBay and they are so beautiful with the white backgrounds and clear colors. Just where I am right now.
