Wow! Never thought of colored pencils! Sharpies always spread out on me. I use fabric pens. Have tons in all kinds of colors. You can also get the ones that come in tubes, they are bright and color nicely but need something underneath as coloring. ive used all kinds of stuff!

LOL BellaBoo....
What about using fabric paint? They have a lot of good fabric paints that stay flexible these days. Aunt Martha's Embroidery paint has a nice ballpoint tip for fine detail and comes in lots of colors - I have dolls that my grandmother made for me 28 years ago and their faces were painted with that paint. Nearly 3 decades and countless trips through the washing machine later and their faces are still like new!

That is what I use too. There have been some shows on Quilting Arts with regards to painting on fabric.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I'm resigned to the fact that I prob won't get the quilt finished by 25th...or the label coloring. Can't get out and about very well so will do some online searching and shopping. Keep the ideas coming tho and I appreciate every one!!!

I saw a tip on another thread - to use freezer paper under the fabric you want to colour. Apparently it helps those 'bleeders', lol, and will give the piece some temporary firmness while you write.

How about the Sharpie Stained pens? I have those and the Tulip fabric markers. I find that the Stained markers don't bleed on the fabric when in use but I haven't tried washing them yet. I am planning on making a Rail Fence table runner with white squares - the squares will have flowers drawn on them and I will quilt around the designs. I will of course do a trial and wash the trial piece first to see what happens.
