I wash fabric when bringing it into my house....then press, with starch only if ready to cut..... Finished quilt tops not being quilted are stored in plastic bags.....I refuse to give bugs any access to my fabrics if I can help it.

My grandmother told me many many years ago to never store anything that had starch in it, as it would cause the item rot. I know that starched doilies do rot when stored over time, so I would assume starched cotton fabric would as well. Anyway, I don't plan to store anything with starch in it for fear of rot (as well as insect infiltration).
