The LAer that I use charges by the inch of thread used, so a heavily quilted queen size costs a little over $300. An all-over meander for a queen size quilt has cost around $175. I do hand-piecing, but I honestly don't have time to hand quilt, and I do not have a LA myself, so IMO, it is worth the cost to get my quilts completed so I can move on to the next one.
