That's good, but will the fabric stores comply with the lower prices?

will that mean a price drop for us. it seems like things go up and prices fall for someone but not the consumer and not as much as we should get. sue

I agree, I don't look for the price of fabric to go down any time soon.

None of the manufacturers have lowered their wholesale prices.

So... the fabric stores are not seeing any reductions in their cost of goods. Which means that it's unlikely they will be lowering their retail prices.

Remember... any stores that have fabric left from before the price hikes, are going to have to pay a higher cost to re-stock those shelves once the older fabric is sold.

I'll believe it when I see it reflected in the stores. Like so many others here, I have to reference gas prices as an example. Oil prices per barrel are currently about the same as they were when gas was barely $2.00 per gallon, but we are still paying between $3.50 and $3.95 per gallon.

Hope the manufactures pass the price decrease on. I'm not holding my breath.

Cotton prices represent a very small portion of fabric prices, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for fabric prices to drop.

We just ordered most of our fabrics for the next 6 months. Prices, especially for batiks are up at the wholesale level, slightly for most fabrics, a lot for batiks and hand-dyes.

We've tried to order early to lock in some prices now, but those who are ordering next month at Quilt Market are likely to see higher prices yet than what we've ordered at.

Sounds great, but in many cases, merchants are quick to pass the increase on to customers, but when their prices drop they are reluctant to roll back their prices. It'll be interesting to see how they plays out.

Prices are rising and in some stores quality is falling. I will spend my quilting dollars at my LQS so I can do my small part in seeing that she is able to stay in business so I have both choice AND quality fabrics. Not to mention.... advise, fellowship, classes, fun, friendship and so much more!
