My FIL does lots of machine embroidery. I turn them into quilts, wall hangings, bags and other items. This one is for his great-granddaughter.

oooh what a great idea!! I love cross stitch patterns, but I don't have a lot of wall space to hang them up, so I haven't done one in a long time. I never thought to put one in a quilt!! Thanks for the great idea.

Cheers!

I did counted cross stitch for years before I started quilting. These are wonderful examples of combining them. It gives me some ideas. There is a product called waste canvas that you can put over your fabric, do your cross stitch and then it will either pull out or dissolve with water under your stitching. That would leave your quilt fabric as your background.

I like to embroider the large squares to quilt, but I'm not really crazy about the cross stitch ones. Have done one and not another.

i just made big kid blankies for my gbabies 1st bday and used waste canvas to put their full names and two nicknames on one of the borders they turned out very nice i did find out actual cross stitch x patterns work better on lillys i used a pattern that was a lot of straight lines and had to go back after i pulled waste canvas off and tack down
