Default Crumbs/Scraps sizes

I am doing a long overdue thinning of the herd. I am cutting a lot of my scraps into 2 1/2" squares as I am really on a scrappy kick right now. I find that I have lots of pieces that are no wider than 2" or smaller. I was starting to put these in a container to offer up here on the board then I got to thinking that maybe I am wasting my time saving them. I took a picture of some of them on my cutting mat so you can see what size and shape they are. I know there are "Crumb" quilters on here but I am not one of them. So what do you think: Save them or pitch them??

i'm bad, i'd save them and start some scrap blocks or crumbs. if you sew them as you get them, yoy'll have some nice blocks.

Most everything can find its place in a string quilt block--I'd use them.

I love scrappy! I think there are many people that would make use of your scraps. I arbitrarily drew the line at 2.5 inch square and strips of 2". I make string quilts, square blocks of multi sizes and crazy type fabric quilts. If I didn't enjoy the process I would find someone to give them to.

I have a friend who keeps even crumbs like these for applique pieces. Keeping them to offer here on the board is very generous and considerate of you!

Gee, I hate to see any usable fabric get tossed. I save mine that are smaller than that for being used in stuffing beds that are made for the local animal shelters and rescue organizations. Check with your LQS or guild or senior center to find if anyone in your area saves scraps for stuffing animal beds. You could list them as a freebie with postage being paid by the individual who wants them on the donation page. Maybe take names if more than one requests your scraps and have a drawing. Good Luck.

These crumbs are fabulous candidates for 'made' fabric ... http://www.15minutesplay.com/

Okay, sounds like I will keep them and then I will offer them up here on the board. I just didn't want someone to take them and then be disappointed when they got them!!

I'm a saver too. I sort my scrap squares by color and store in ziplock bags.

Lots of us would love to have them if you have no use for them... please don't pitch them!
