Default Curved Dresden question

I'm making a baby bib with dresden plate in the center. Looking through the tutorials most seem to be backed and turned inside out. I was just going to sew the pieces and then use wonder-under and appliqué. Thought I ask before I ironed it down.

Would it be better to sew to muslin and turn inside out?
Example tutorial

Thanks.

It's for a baby bib not an heirloom I think fusing and satin stitch around it is perfectly appropriate not to mention it will be dang cute too. Love your colors

Thanks. I don't want to mess with turning under that 1/4 curve either.

The only thing I would question is whether the fabric will fuse well because I think that is a polyester or blend, not cotton. If it's not cotton it may not take the hot iron.
