Wile there are some 'rules' as to height, sometimes that isn't enough. Due to arthritis the ehight I use is what is comfortable and not what the rules refer to.

I'd suggest you also try various cabinet heights in a DIY [home depot, lowes, ikea, etc] type store as they will have a variety of heights to try.

I am 5'3" and my cutting "desk" is 30". It's the perfect height for me. Most of my friends prefer taller, but I am uncomfortable with their preferred height because I can't put my weight behind the cut.

I love the height of my kitchen counter (36") so I also used bed risers to raise my cutting table to about that height and I'm just under 5' 5" tall. Try your kitchen counter for a couple of hours and then adjust accordingly. As much cutting as we do comfort is top priority!

We did some remodeling and got the wrong size for the bathroom sink/cabinet. It now serves as a resting shelf for my boobies. I too suggest that you practice cutting on different height tables and see what is best for you. And, measure the height twice before buying!
