QuiltE, I'm a gadget girl but I still didn't want to have to buy another ruler but I found it made it very easy to trip out the blocks including those odd 3-patch blocks. I was confused with their instructions but finally figured it out. I now have the blocks put together to the next step but for whatever reason they came out .5" larger than they should so I'll go back to see where my mistake was. In this pattern, there is a lot of presisng open the seams instead of to one side.

But I still love this ruler but find it slides around so I added NexCare tape to the backside to keep it from slipping. I'm almost out of this tape so will need to pick some more up on my next grocery shopping date.

Snooze ... Thankfully they were 1/2" too large and not too small!
This odd 3-patch ... is it still a rectangle? or an odd shape totally?
Anxiously waiting to see what fabrics/colours you went with ... and how it's looking with your first work.
    Thanks!

QuiltE, the the 3-patch is still rectangle and with the ruler, it made it much easier to trim it correctly after I finally figured out what they were saying. Was a bit confused with her instructions but finally got it right. Before I trimmed with what I thought they were saying, I'd measure to see what the block would end up at and it was correct. I've been able to now work on getting all the sections together and tomorrow I should be able to start putting the sections together to make a whole quilt. There are 27.5" triangles that go into the corners and I've already thought what I want to quilt in them.

I'm also working on my Cathedral Windows quilt and hopefully I'll have this done this coming week also. Then I'll have no excuse not to go back to the quilt machine and get busy on the quilt that's been attached for almost 2 years. Just found out one of my sweet kitties has been having fun pulling the thread off the spool on the side of the machine. Luckily she/he didn't damage the thread. Lucky for her/him more like it.

Snooze ... Yeaaa for your progress! You're doing well to switch back and forth on the two intense quilts. Do you find it gives you a good break? For me, I think I would get myself more confused. As for the kitties ... oh heck, they would never do no wrong or harm! After all, aren't they purrrrrfect? Just so long as they don't end up getting tangled up in it and caught ...... YIKES!

QuiltE, I can't say my furbabies are perfect but they're all mine and I love them dearly no matter what they might do that they shouldn't. Boomer, my little man is the youngest and almost the biggest now and he's always looking to get into trouble witht he girls. But then he has his endearing qualities and that cancels out his mistakes. Tabby, my middle child is quiet, shy but very loving. Pepper my old girl and who moved into this house with me 14 years ago is my sweet baby. She loves to sleep under the covers with me at night very close. Tabby sleeps behind my calves and Boomer, well Boomer is just being Boomer at night looking for trouble to get into. Sometimes I have to close the bedroom door on him just so I can get some sleep.

Today I might have the Abstaction done. I've already laid out the sections and will start pinning them as the center section seems to be about .5" larger than it should. Don't know why but it is so I'll put it to the bottom when sewing and that should take up the excess. Can't wait to show all of you when it's done. Then back to the Cathedral Windows as I'm hoping to get that put together also by the end of the week. Then it's back to the quilt machine for me.

bearisgray, normally I don't care for square quilts and I had planned on adding something to the top and bottom to make it rectangle but I didn't want to take away from the center of the quilt so left it as is.

Thanks for your compliment. I've gotten into optical illusion type quilts lately and I do like how tyhis one came together.
