I am handing quilting a quilt for my grandson & using a lap frame. For the dark blue fabric, I used a chalk pounce for marking. The problem is, when I am ready to move my hoop to the next area, the markings are gone & I have to rechalk. Does anyone know if there is something I can do to make the chalk stay on longer? I'm just wondering if anyone else has ran across this problem.

I read somewhere that you can spray the chalk marks lightly with hairspray and it keeps it from rubbing off.

The hairspray works. Lightly is all it needs. I ran out of hairspray one day so did the last bit with spray starch. It also held it but I felt I had to wash the quilt from the starch.

I just spray lightly with water and it seems to set it for me.
