Seven stiches to the inch for me and a tetnus shot. (left index finger at the nail)
I hope it doen't hurt too bad and Please check into the Tetnus shot. I am now good until 2020 as I think the shot lasts ten years.

I cringe every time I read that another quilter has been wounded. Happened to me, even with stitches it took forever to heal. Mine was the same as yours Quilter68. The shot is more important than the stitches. Hope you can get back to sewing quickly.

Unfortunately, you may not be able to get stitches now as they usually like to stitch wounds within a few hours. You do need a tetanus shot (if you have not had one in 10 years). If it is still bleeding, you need to go to the doctor to have him/her look at it. With some wounds the docs will "super glue" them together, works better than stitches sometimes. (They are even using glue in surgery). The numbing shot does hurt, but it is over quickly and will help the cut "feel okay" for a few hours after the stitches. Please call your doctor on Monday if you have any concerns. Heal well and hope you get back to quilting! {{Hugs}} from a former EMT and fellow quilter!

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch Jeanne!!!!! After reading a thread about these injuries....I remembered that I had purchased (ashamed to admit some years ago) That Grip thing that looks like the bath tub suction bar....Well I opened it and added it to my long ruler! I'm in love!!!! So I bought the in-between size....now I'm really feeling the love....and the smallest is perfect for the multiple Twister patterns I'm so enjoying making.
I too have the glove from Fons and Porter but never took the time to 'find' it.
I have a healthy fear of the rotary cutter and I think that 'helps'....
Jeanne if you were the one that started the original thread a month or so ago a big THANK-YOU for such a valuable reminder that the rotary cutter is no respector of our fingers or heaven forbid ~ barefoot quilters!

So sorry. I got cut once and once was enough to change my it won't happen to me mindset. My ER bill was 10x more then then any of the safety tools I could have bought, even with insurance. Please everyone do not use a rotary cutter without a safety guard or tool. There are many to choose from and you need more then one. A iron placed on the ruler will work fine if you don't have one of the safety tools. If you have to use a potholder to take a hot pan out of the oven then there is no excuse that you don't need safety tools when rotary cutting.
