    I would NOT do that!! It reduces the amperage to the item plugged in. That's dangerous for anything with computer functions. Some small motors cannot handle that.

    the Bailey home quilter (mechanical machine with separate motor) COMES WITH something similar to a 'dimmer switch'...

    but the the Bailey is a stretched Janome mechanical machine - no electronics

    a FOOT PEDAL is nothing more and nothing less than a DIMMER switch - it controls the amount of electricity going to the motor....
