    My suggestion would be to go with more of a fabric contrast like the black/blue but then do different blocks with one consistent fabric in it..say like a black or a red to carry it out...a controlled scrappy look. Either way, looks like a great quilt for a guy/boy!

    I like the one on right with black.
    Of course you can use whatever you want in it, but in the end, it may look like a scrappy and not so much a DP4, that's all.
    As long as you like it, all is good.

    i like the black and blue it is a great quilt i may look for some fabrics like that my hubby would love it...

    There is a tutorial on the Missouri Star Quilt Shop for a multi-colored D9P. It works up well for a scrappy.

    Yes, I know, thank you. Love Missouri star Quilt shop! I was trying it with what I have. Trying it now much smaller and using what I had planned for my border now for my repeat solid instead of the white.

    Sorry... I forgot you meant 9 patch. I love the D9P. Done it twice. I was trying to do the D4P For a change up.
