Karynne, could you please share EXACTLY how to find those D9P pics? I can find the quilt gallery sticky OK but I don't know how to search.

At the top . Go to Home. Then Pictures and Gallery is the first entry. Click on that and then you will find a list of quilts, they are in Alphabetical order Hope this helps

I'm one of those people who tries but always ends up laying things out contrary to what I'm "supposed to". I can't follow recipes exactly either. I try to set out the blocks the way the pattern indicates and then end up moving them around to suit me.

I love the idea of mixing them up. Sounds like an oppurunity to make 2 quilts, one mixed and one not. Like the advice to lay them out and see what strikes you.

The D9P's that I liked best have the center block of each 9-patch the same vibrant color: white, black, or bright solids. Very small prints work too, but large prints get lost when you cut them into 4 pieces. That way the whole quilt looks very scrappy, and you've used lots of your scraps, but the bright center pieces (which are now quite small) give a patterned look to the quilt.
But this advice is too late for you, since you have the 9-patches already made and cut. Then I'm with everyone else. Play with them and have fun.

If your fabrics are all scrappy, lay them out so that the lines please your eye. There are lay-out designs for controlled fabrics as well.

It is your quilt and you can do whatever you like. You may be pleasantly surprised. Go for it...........................

Do it your own way, make it original and have fun with it that is the beauty of the quilting process.
