If you can't removed the smoke order from some of your fabrics how about using them to make some doggie pads for your local animal shelter? I try to 'match' my fabrics in cotton or drapery weight for the top and bottom and piece leftover batting for the insides. I sew a big X to keep the batting down, fold over the backing to the front and zig zag it down. Quick and easy but so appreciated by the shelters. Most sizes are 36 x 36 but you could check with the shelter on the sizes of their cages. Usually the doggie pad goes with the animal when it is adopted. May in Jersey

YOU MIGHT CHECK WITH ANY HOSPICE PROGRAM I AM A HOSPICE NURSE AND IT IS NICE TO GIVE A QUILT TO SOMEONE SO ILL AND THEN IT BECOMES A MEMORY QUILT FOR THE FAMILY AFTER.
