I also make my own - 2 1/2 inch folded in half. I like it to be one of the fabrics in my quilt.

When sewing on the binding, I just put the tube on the extra spool pin on my machine and let it feed off of there. That way it doesn't get caught or drop on the floor or whatever.
Love the idea of the TP roll. I use my leftover binding, sew it together and use it for charity quilts - makes them bright and cheerful.

Same here, cut either 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 depending on the piece.
I do the same but cut it 2-3/4 and use a 3/4 inch seam allowance.

I have bought binding on ebay for .40 cents a yard.

I have bought bias tape (pre-made) from Walmart, but they never have enough packages or the right colors. However, it sure is fast to use...

What about you? What do you do about binding?
What is the Simplicity binding maker? I make my own, roll it on TP roll and then put a ribbon through the roll and hang it from my neck.

I agree, and I do it for a woman with a long arm.

I make my own double fold binding. I sometimes use straight cut, but mostly cut my strips on the bias. My strips are cut 2 and 1/4 inches wide. If I want my binding a wee bit wider I cut my strips 2 and 1/2 inches wide. After sewing strips together, I fold in half to make my double fold binding. One hint. If you are doing a project and you know what fabric you will use to bind, cut it and keep with your project. It is a disaster if you forget and use that fabric for something else. It is a fact you will never be able to replace that fabric. Nice chatting wilt ya'll.

I use to make my own but now I use the Simplicity machine. I sew 2 1/2'' strips together and run it through the binding machine and I'm done. Double folded perfect binding. I have lots of binding made and stashed away. If I want bias binding I sew narrower bias strips and the machine makes perfect folds. It took several attempts to using the machine before I was thrilled with it but it was never the machine not doing it right it was me. I kept trying because the machine was a gift from my DD and I wanted to be able to say I love it. Now I can. :-D
