Yes, my machines do have names!
My vintage Singer 66 hand-crank is named Ambrozina, after my grandmother.
My hale-and-hearty little Kenmore, who does anything I tell her to and gives me no problems, is named Edna. That just sounded like a "sturdy" name to me.
My (new, not antique) Featherweight 75 is called Tinkerbell, because she's my lightest machine.
My Singer Quantum L-500 is named Paris Hilton, because she's high-maintenance and sometimes a bit difficult to get along with (although she has been behaving VERY well lately, thank goodness).
My newest machine is the Singer 160, and as soon as I took her out of the box, the first name that popped into my head was "Big Bertha"! So that's her name, the poor thing!

yes I name my machines, my long arm quilter is name abigail after my middle grandaughter, my babylock sewing machine is named Taylor after my oldest grandaughter and my serger is named Gabe after my grandson. The machines just remind me of different quilties my grandchildren possess. My grandchildren think it is just so cool to have the machines named after them.

Of course I name my machines. Keeps me from calling the, #%*+ when they are acting up. APQS Millenium is Matilda as in waltzing Matilda just love spending time with her. We got a black 301 from eBay who was just Brenda Lou from the start. Since featherweights are supposed to be the little sisters to the 301's the two black featherweights are Suzie and Sally. My Artista 640 is Patience, she patiently sits and waits her turn until I quit playing with the vintage machines and need her for something they can't do. The 3/4 size hand painted White Pearl is Patience's backup. She needs an oriental name to go with the style of painting but for now she is simply Pearl. We just received a mocha 301 from eBay. Her foot controller isn't working so we are dealing with the seller on a solution. I think I'll call her Tempest. All our other purchases have been as expected. As we get others up and running and I learn their personalities there will be more names to add to the list.

My Featherweight is called Sherry. I had a favorite uncle who called me Sherry all my life. My name is actually Shirley.
I never corrected him. Then he started calling my daughter Sherry. Her name is Amanda. We loved the man dearly and would just smile and nod.
