Patterns??? We're supposed to use a pattern?? JK LOL. I have books and magazines for 'inspiration' but have never made a whole quilt according to one pattern. The sizes always seem to be wrong or I'll be half way finished and the dreaded 'better idea lightbulb' will go off in my head--usually making my project 100% more difficult.

Patterns are just a suggestion. I usually chance them somehow to make each thing my own or I just make it up all together.

I buy patterns all over too. I have several from the LQS but more from the internet- so much availabe! I was just in Joann's the other day & looked at all of the great purse/bag patterns they had in their catalogs- Simplicity was on sale for $0.99 too.

I haven't looked through pattern books in ages, thanks for the heads up! May have to see if we can look at them online too, will try that later! I can see where they would be cheaper too, good idea!

My problem is too many patterns and not being able to find them without a long search.
My favorite, and the only ones I buy anymore, are Quilt In A Day books.
I use alot of ink for my printer and its not cheap.
Seems the board sidetracks me alot with patterns. I will be all ready to start a project and the board will post a pattern I cant resist.
The only place Ive never bought a pattern from is a quilt shop. But have used coupons for books at Joanns.

I save or bookmark alot of stuff online, but don't print it out, & waste the paper & ink, till I am ready to definitely make it. That saves alot for me....

I recently bought a Simplicity pattern for 4 totes on ebay brand new for 99 cents and the shipping total under $3.00.
