    Depends on whether I need to match up seems, which I usually do. for applique or paper piecing, no.

    i got pretty good at not having to pin - comes from working in the factory - no pins available.

    but when putting blocks together, i find stuff goes together so much better! Definitely when i put borders on - it helps keep the quilt square. I may only put 3 or 4 pins on a side though - just enough...

    I pin ...I pin...I pin...and use elmers glue to attach the binding, sharon shambler has a tute on attaching a binding, there are no pins used on the binding,and I like that.

    I pin every thing I don't trust myself or the machine. Things happen to easily and I hate to rip things out.
