Do you serge the edges of your quilt " sandwich" before binding?

I have a serger, but only use it in garment making. I machine baste the sandwich before binding, and before trimming, too. I've never had any issues with binding (have made less than 20 quilts), and no problem with mitered corners. I'd see posts about different ones' struggle with binding and didn't know why they were having trouble.
I did watch Sharon Schramber (sp!)'s glue edge binding method video this week. I think on my everyday quilts (not competition) my method works for me. If I ever do make a quilt for competition, I plan to use her method.
In fact glue tips are on my big city shopping trip for this Saturday.
(I've never made a t-shirt quilt)
