I am the odd one here. While I like ironing fabric, I don't like to iron it and then put it away. I just have to re-do the work when I want to use my fabric. Don't like wasting my time!

When I see the wrinkles come out by a simple ironing - I know I will have a nice quilt when it is finished also - they go hand in hand - and such a glorious feeling going into making a quilt - no guess work as to how it will turn out later on.

when hubby's office started demanding sharp pressed creases in their chosen polyester pants and shirts (sheriff's dept--yes, he has retired, since) i gave him his own iron, ironing board, and can of sizing for his birthday. i'll do his laundry, but pressing creases into a permapressed existing crease was a little much. i worked just as many hours in a week as he did! when he retired, he gave the iron to me...

Holding head down...will admit to enjoying ironing my clothes. Please only throw soft items, as I already have neck problems, lol. My dil thinks I am nuts, but I really hate wrinkles.

Yes, I admit enjoying ironing my fabric, but don't see the need to do it twice.

I don't consider it wasting my time. Sometimes sewing is just not what I want to get lost in. Ironing I can get lost in while i'm trying to escape something else or other people in the living room. Sometimes it is to take my thoughts off of something that is bothering me, sometimes it is to get the creative juices going. Like someone else says, it is like shopping all over again.

Just for the record, I don't in general like to iron anything. I avoid it if I can.

I'm with Debra-if I never had to iron another item again I'd be ecstatic. I think it has to do with having so little time to sew to begin with-I want to get to the fun part-putting something together.

Be careful when starching before using fabric for a while. Starch will draw silverfish easily. You don't want this problem. Believe me. Ask me how I know.
