Do you take as much pleasure?

I wash all fabric as soon as I bring it home. Most of the time I damp dry, then iron. I do enjoy the process, though sometimes I scold myself for buying something just because it was on sale. I find it takes minimal ironing before using the fabric later. If I simply smooth and fold the fabric after washing, it retains a lot of wrinkles which are Very stubborn to steam out months or years later.

I consider ironing, folding and arranging my stash my meditation time. I love smelling the steam from the fresh pressed fabric. Ironing clothes is different because you have to think.
Getting the stash together is just relaxing. You are not alone!

You are also touching fabric and seeing the patterns and colors of each individual piece. It is a great time to appreciate the beauty of the fabric and yes the smoothness of the fabric shows off that beauty better.

However, like many, I only iron it once just before I cut it. When I was younger, I never really enjoyed ironing but then again, I wasn't creating anything new and wonderful with it either.
