My adult children know how to sew. I required that each of them learn when they were about 10 years old. (Their father insisted that they know how to change brakes and change the oil on their vehicles when they were older.)

My daughter does sew when she has a chance. She loves to work on quilts. My son doesn't sew because he isn't interested. He did make a few things when he learned how to sew as a child. He does have a sewing machine...it is a Singer 99.

I tried to teach my kids to sew - my dd can use a sewing machine but both boys I think can sew on buttons if needed. They seem to think any sewing should be done by either their wives or Mom.

My daughter was always exposed to my sewing activities but she likes to do crafty-types of sewing. She did make a lap quilt for her husband's Great Grandmother when she lived with them. When it comes to taking in, taking up, repairing rip etc. -- it;s MOM can you do this?? Of course, I do!

I am hoping someday they will
Of course my son, 22, has no interest.

My boys know how to sew and will if it is needed. They are just not into quilting.

my daughter, now 23, sews but prefers photography and jewelry design. My god-daughter, now 9, loves to sew, made a wall-hanging with my help (mostly supervision) last summer and has made great progress on a quilt for her bed. It would be finished if her mother (my best friend) did not overbook everything. there's been no time for Lily to come visit to finish the quilt. All it needs is the border attached, the back pieced (at her request--I tried to make it easier but...she is my girl, after all!) and quilted. We have picked out the pantograph for the quilt; I have a mid-arm, HQ16.

Yes, many of my children are quilters, have made a quilt and know how to make a basic quilt. I hope the younger ones will too.

None of our 4 kids have any interest in sewing or needlework. I always was doing hand embroidery. A couple of Grand daughters are interested. I workl with them when I see them and encourage them, but they all live far away. One DDIL does sew.

BUT - They all can cook. Boys sometimes better then their wives.

Fabulous family fun. I'm in the process of teaching my DDIL to quilt (she's on her second one). Neither of my 2 DDs or DS were interested. You're so lucky.
