I have been looking for a while for the star pattern but I cannot find this particular one. Does anyone know what it is? I thought it was an amish star but am not sure. thanks

Only interested in the star part of the quilt

I think it's called a 'feathered star'. Don't have the pattern but look at this link.

I see it has the typical feathers, but the star is completely different from any 'feathered star' pattern I've done or seen. I really like this one!
I'm hoping someone will come up with a name. Looks like it could be strip pieced??

Or just google Amish star quilt pattern you'll come up with a lot of different ones so you'll have to choose which one you want.
    Hope this helps some...

It looks like the lone star that is in one of my books. It looks like the color placement is creating the illusion of the diamond tips. My book is Singer, Quilting by Machine. In case you have it you can look on page 18./Regards, Dorothy

It's hard to tell from here but the center looks like one of those nine patch stars (I am sure that is not what they are called) You know the kind that starts with a solid square in the middle, flying geese at 12, 3, 6, and 9 oclock and squares in the corners but no squares in those corners. I cannot tell from the picture. are the outside stars solid strips or pieces like a normal star. whichever the case it looks like alot of inside seams to me. A nemesis to be sure. Good luck.

This would get you the eight point star in the centre and then you would have to figure out how to put the different strips around it and then finish with the feathers.

The feathers are made from HSTs. I have seen the pattern too some place but I can't recall where.

The center star appears to be built as a log cabin, starting with a diamond, and adding on on only two sizes, until the desired size is reached, and hst "feathers" are added. Since the field is log cabins, you may want to look through some log cabin books to find it.

Someday I hope I am experienced enough to piece this pattern. Oh, the woes of learning with patience when there are so many beautiful quilts to be made!!!
