I have bought some fabrics from walmart that were nicer made than some in the quilt shops! I am just careful of what I buy.

I try to watch the hand of the fabric. Most of my WM fabric goes into drag-alongs for my little grands who are not into heirloom stuff, and the WM fabric does hold up through at least a year's worth of washing every week.

I did buy WM fabrics til now they dont sell it. I found the fabric just as good as the Highe dollar LQS fabs. I have quilts that are 20 years old , washed many times and still look beautiful.

I am amazed that walmart is stopping fabrics, judging by all these emails they are getting rid of a selling line. It makes no sense!

I have bought many nice fabrics there- same brands as my JoAnn's for half the price, all the time. I am so disappointed that tall of my local Wal-Marts no longer have fabric.
I do not shop there any more for anything!

I use the WM fabrics. I have no problem at all with this fabric. I am currently making a quilt out of the bright fats I bought there. No problems at all and I like what I have sewn so far. I have never made a bed size quilt using all LQS fabric and probably never will.

I am making a quilt right now with fabric I purchased from Walmart. The fabric is gorgeous, I paid $2.47/yd for it and I'll bet that no one would be able to tell that it's not fabric from an LQS at $9.99/yd. I would love to support the smaller stores but I'd rather save money and get bargains at Walmart, Fabric.com, eBay, and many other online sources so that I can make more quilts. When the LQS starts offering real sales and discounts instead of just $1.00 off per yd. that's when I'll patronize them more frequently. I am very particular about the fabric I use but I am not a fabric snob.

When my oldest daughter was a year old, I made her a simple 9 patch 45" square quilt.. made of nothing but Walmart fabrics.
she slept with, toted, dragged, peed on, spilled on, and even stained a couple times that quilt until she started school.

She is now 18, just graduated High School, and starting college this fall. She STILL sleeps with that quilt..
It has stayed together without issues, except the small applique i had to put on it after an incident with scissors when she was 3 lol (also lost half her hair in same incident) lol

i do buy alot online... but i have never had any issues with Walmart fabric, and will continue to buy and use it as long as i can find a Walmart to sell it :D
They need to keep the fabric dept. because as most men hate to shop, they would just as soon go to a small specialized store over a Walmart.. I drag mine there, and the fabric is what gets me to go there lol... when its gone, he can go pick up whatever, wherever. I just wont see the point in going anymore lol

I am heartsick - our WM is closing out their fabrics! I have always liked to shop for my fabric needs there and have had no problems...now I have to go 60 miles to buy from Nancy's. Has anyone ever gotten material on-line? I am a little skittish about that.
