Here's my best shot at it. I drew it as a traditional snail's trail with the four blocks in the center, but I think it may be a print that they are using for the center. If you agree, you'd change the four center blocks to one square.

If you let me know sizes I can put together EQ rotary cutting diagrams for you.

Marti has a free Snail's Tail pattern on her site with two center block options:

Go to google images: search for "snail's trail quilt block" and, I believe, it is image #41 next to an image of a four-way-cat. (Not next to the first closeup of the cat block).

If you "flip" the image of the block horizontally that Gladys posted a link to, it would be the same block except for the corners. It is not clear in either image of that quilt that I have seen how the corners are constructed but I would construct them the way that LindaOH laid it out to eliminate seams. I also agree that the center is most likely a single printed square (maybe flowery??)

Oh wow thanks so much guys. How can I thank you?

Everyone has been so helpful. Lynda in OH I really appreciate the time you took to so that. It helps.

I just cannot see laying out over $20 for one block that I'd like to try just because it's different. I'm gonna play around with this stuff and if I ever make anything decent I'll take a picture but that may be a while.

Thanks again..isn't it an interesting block?

You're welcome, Gladys! It is an interesting block and I think it will be fun to combine it with other blocks and see what secondary designs develop.

    Have fun with it!

I agree with Linda about the center. If you look at the other blocks, one of the fabrics has lots of color and movement. I think its used in the 4 patch center and so is harder to see. Neat block...

I agree with the "snails tail" on point with half square triangles on sides.

It looks like snails trail set on point. The blocks are very pretty.

It looks to me that the pieces have a curve to them. Doesn't really seem like a snail's trail to me. Maybe I'm not seeing it clearly.
