I remember them also. Our local J.C. Pennys had one. I guess this sort of dates some of us doesn't it. It too wish they still used them. I think they were more accurate than the way we measure fabric today.

I remember it also, it was in our JC Penneys basement. I would go with my mom! Such good memories. I never did know the name of it.

I, too, remember the "gadget"! I believe I saw it in use at JC Penny's as well.

I used one of these at the job I got after graduating from college in 1974 and needed money, not able to to find a job using my degree until about 8 months later. It worked great! If you went to far, you could back up and take off a few inches as long as you did not remove fabric first. It was fast, accurate way to measure fabric. You notched it and then tore or cut the fabric across.

I used to work in a fabric store back in the day. We used one. The place that sells upholstry material still uses something similar but more high tech. Does anyone still remember typewriters? LOL

They still use that machine in Joann's to measure and cut the wide decorator fabrics.

I remember. JC Penney's, Woolworth's, Kmart, Bargain City.
Used to be a lot of places to buy fabric, now I hear they're going to close our one Joann's

yep, I remember too- haven't thought about that in years- I wonder why they don't use them anymore? Seems like it was quick.
