Default domestic machine quilting question

I do my quilting on my domestic machine and am getting descent with SID but the quilt I am working on now has a lot of short stop and go lines. How do you tie up your ends? I have been using my fix button on my machine and have been experimenting with my tensions. It just isn't exactly the way I want it yet. any suggestions? My backing is just a solid tan so don't know if that is maybe why the ends don't look as buried as I want them to be.

For bed quilts, I pull the bobbin thread to the front when I start. Then, when I finish the quilt, I tie all the bobbin threads to their respective front threads and make a little knot, and then use a sewing needle to bury the thread into the top of the fabric. If you tug just a bit, the knot goes under the fabric, but because it is a knot, it can't work it's way back out of the fabric.

For wall quilts, I start with very small stitches and then work up to the size I'm working on; that is enough to secure the thread and I just snip the tails off.

I find the fix button on my machine to create too large of a knot.

If you use a self threading needle, it's easier to bury the threads.

I tie the ends off by bringing the threads up to the top, square knot, then bury them. I do this as I go along instead of waiting until I'm done for the day.

I do as the others have mention. I especially tie and bury as I go. Once I waited to do the whole quilt and nearly died of boredom burying all those knots at once.

Great idea ..then it is not such a chore to finish up.

I, too, tie off my ends and bury the knot. I just don't like the look of those very tiny stitches that are often recommended for starting and stopping your quilting lines.

Usually I just make tiny stitches in a ditch so it doesn't show. I have when warranted, done what most of the posts have described, knot off the thread and then bury it.

When I start I go back and forth a few times in the ditch, when starting and stopping.Shows some on the back but,I let them be.

I tie the bobbin and top thread together and bury it. It can be tedious but I like the look and I'm rarely in a race to get done. It is worth the effort in my opinion.
