The other just slapped the sashing on and then cut--14 1/2 inch blocks sashed on 2 sides but the sashing ranged in lenght from 14 1/2 inches to 14 7/8 inches. Yes, the blocks were stretched out of shape. Had to dampen and gently manipulate them back to their proper size. Argh!!

This will be a pretty top--when it is put back together properly. I do sometimes wonder if it is worth the effort.
Perhaps that is why it is/was a "donated top"?

I have learned that - generally - I prefer to do all the sewing and cutting myself. If it turns out "not as hoped for/expected" - it is because of me -

I did a small project this winter - I know I did as much unsewing than sewing. If I was going to do it again, I could have done it better and in about 1/3 of the time I spent on the project. The lady seems happy with it - and it looks nice from the top!

At least it can be corrected! I just cut the corner out of the wrong side(top) of a piece meant to be a boxed-cornered purse for DD. Fatigued for sure. I had just told myself that I should quit because I'm tired. Waited til morning to improvise. Contrast was supposed to be in middle!

Each day offers a new perspective...somedays you just need to stop and start over. Glad you noticed early on in your project. 🤪

It's really frustrating when you do something like that, take it all out, and carefully redo it - only to find you did it again. Yes. I've done that.

Sometimes I am smart and stop before that happens. Last night I was doing a pieced backing with all my flannel bits and I need about 6 more inches on 1 side to be done. But i stopped.... because I was feeling fuzzy brain. It's annoying to be so close to the end and quit....but better than frogging ("rip it, rip it, rip it")

At least you noticed it. You are right-don't try and sew when too tired. Sorry this happened to you but it is just a small rip and rearrange

You could have made more blocks just like it and randomly placed them around the quilt. Whatta think? 😀

Thank you for the laugh!! As soon as I saw your picture, I laughed outloud, and I really needed the laugh! Today I worked on quilt blocks for a fairly simple quilt and my seam ripper was in my hand more than it was out. I was SUPER careful cutting, quarter inch stitching, squaring each section, but time after time, I did something wrong. YIKES!!
