Annie68,
Amazing quilts. The tulips are my favorite, but I'm obviously a sucker over flowers, especially appliqued ones.

I had to look at both pics as well, but decided that I do like the first with the floral corners better. I am sure what ever you will decide will be beautiful.

Wow, thanks for the response, everyone! This quilt has an interesting history already. I bought this gorgeous blue floral border print in Ohio in July with it's corresponding dark blue geo print. I decided to do this pattern with it after seeing my roomate's DIC, but it was going to take 9 yards! I had 4. Called the shop. They didn't have any more. Found 3 yards online but after that, including the ISO thread on this forum, there simply was no more fabric available. I was going to have to find another pattern. Then on an amazing Tues the Ohio shop called me. Another clerk had found my note near the phone in the office and remembered the fabric. She found 4 yards of it!!! Wooo Hooo! That same night my best friend called to tell me she passed her board exam to be an LPN. We're both in our 50's! This is her quilt. It was even before she called, but that just made it special. I think I'll stick to #1, my first choice because overall it's softer and more feminine. Using the dark as the second chain will put too much emphasis on it and darken the quilt.
Thanks again for all the input. I'll post the picture about this time next year

I really like them both, but #2 is my favorite. It has a "cleaner" look with more simple lines that I prefer.

IMHO #1 looks more contemporary and #2 looks more like a traditional Irish Chain.
I like #2 as the flower center pops out more
