I received a pattern today for a double wedding ring bed runner from Keepsake Quilting. As I look at the instructions, it looks like it's basically strips that will be sewn together on these
foundation pieces.

My question is why can I not sew the strips together and cut them with a circle stencil I have. I don't know the answer to
this question. It would save a lot of work and confusion
to do it this way.

Do it in scraps and see what you think of the outcome:) Be sure to report back your findings:)

If it's a real DWR (and not a faux shortcut pattern), the pieces in the arcs are not straight strips. The sides are angled, which creates the curve.

You can't get the same effect cutting a curved piece from a strip set strata.

eta:
Is this it - a Judy Niemeyer pattern?

Take a look at the foundation for the arcs - you'll see the shapes.
Judy's patterns are very well know, well produced and gorgeous.

You'll be surprised at how quickly it goes once you get going.
