How big are the squares on the outside of the McCall's bag?

Charm squares start out almost 5 inches, so about 4.5 inches. There's 4 on each side plus 2 on each end.

This is the easiest tote bag to make and it has no exposed seams. My granddaughter and her friends make them by the dozens in all sizes. They sew fabric squares together to make a patchwork tote. http://www.lazygirldesigns.com/blog/?p=913

Old jeans would be great for making these BIG Totes.
and you could sew a jeans pocket on the outside or in.

And you could put a school name or even pix on some
of the squares. (thinking of for grand kids)

Oh the ideas I am finding on this board.

I love that bag. I'm going to get the pattern. DD loves BIG bags.

I went to link but you can't get the magazine no more. This is the one I wanted.

I am enrolled in the Craftsy class Quick quilting with Jenny Doan and there is a pattern for a CUTE tote bag using strips. I bet there is a you tube on it.
