Default Inside of tote base?

Ladies,
I've made a large tote. I was wondering what you use for the inside base to make it sturdy. In the past I've used cardboard but now I'm second guessing my choice.

Any thoughts please....

Thanks

Thanks much! I did wonder about the plastic but I was afraid it would crack.

I have used cardboard and foam board and neither one held up very well. I had an old cutting mat that I saved and cut it up for bottoms. It's had about 3 months of abuse but seems to be holding up well.

I'll have to look into Decor bond. I haven't heard of it before.

Thanks again!

I asked for and was given a lot of discontinued laminate floor samples at Lowe's. They are the right size for most of my tote and purse bottoms. Lightweight too.

I make mine out of el cheapo placemats. The ones made of the stuff kinda like cutting boards. I also make them so you can remove it to wash the sleeve you put it in.

Lois thanks for the link. Do you fold layers, then cover it for the base?

Besides the base of totes what else do you use it for?

Thanks-
