    I love the comments that remind us we purchased both sides of the fabric. Clever......and YES I have used the backside on purpose and also by accident. LOL The accident was left alone because it's a tone and tone and only I can find it, and besides it wasn't noticed until I had well passed that piece on a Grandmothers Flower Garden I'm hand piecing. Remember only God makes perfect.

    Years ago, I found the perfect pansy fabric at JoAnn's. I purchased it and several coordinating prints to make a quilt for my youngest daughter. When I brought it home, I realized that the pansy fabric had been folded right sides together and then rolled onto the bolt. I still used the backside. I liked the softer look better.

    I used the back of the fabric in my officers challenge a couple of years ago. We were given an ugly FQ to use in a wall hanging. The back of the fabric was a good green color and I used mostly the back. After I convinced people that it was actually the challenge fabric, mine won the challenge.

    As one quilt teacher told the group, "We pay for 2 sides to the fabric, so we can use both sides if needed." I have used the back side of some fabrics in quilts and I made one full size quilt with a fairly large border, and I reversed the fabric as it looked better with the quilt, so instead of a black border, I had a charcoal grey and it worked out well.

    Yes - I do it all the time, gives more variety in value and color.
