Default Fabric of Society by Annette Gero

Does anyone on the board have this book?

http://www.annettegero.com/

it is enormously expensive (although dirt cheap compared to closets of fabric we'll never use...

I'd love to hear impressions of anyone who has read it.

29 of the quilts include patterns which I suppose makes it cheap when you compare it to Nearly Insane or Dear Jane which only have one quilt.

can you tell, I'm convincing myself?

I love Kim Mclean who did the patterns for the patterns for the book. It is on my wish list too.

Sounds like it should be a present from my DH (now I have to figure out a way to get him to see this)

I've ordered it, well let you know about it when it gets here. She has a US bank account so can be paid with a US check, via snail mail.

Just updating, this is a fabulous book. Big full color photos and all the provenance she could find which is considerable.
It is interesting to note many of the quilts were in the 100" X 100" range which was enormous for beds of the period. Perhaps so many remain because they were made of show or for the joy of doing complicated patterns while making their best fabrics stretch.

and as I said above, this book is cheap at twice the price compared to the acres of fabric we have and will never use.

Thanks so much for posting about the book! It looks wonderful, and is now on my wish list as well.

With the exchange rate, it is about 105USD. It looks like an interesting book. I found another of her books going for $299 on Amazon.

It may have to go on my wish list as well.
