Default Fabric Storage?

My friend and I were duscussing if you should store fabric in the garage. I said too hot but she said it lives in warehouses until sold. What do you all think? Any harm to the fabric from heat?

Thanks!

You have humidity in Texas too..so I think that might not be too good for it. In SoCal I store mine in a shed and so far it hasn't been effected badly...only about a year out there...it stays clean and it is in cardboard boxes...which I don't think it good either in the long run.

As long as the fabric stays dry and moisture free I think you are OK. Will it be sealed to keep out bugs and silverfish too?

Should not be a problem if moisture and bug infestation is under control.

I would worry about mice also, especially in cardboard boxes.

I am not sure how long the fabric is store overseas, but I do know that the Hoffman main distribution center located in Mission Viejo is well ventilated since employees are working in the warehouse putting the fabric on the cardboard bolts. Nothing like a HOT non-ventilated garage. I have always found a shelf or under the bed to stash my precious fabrics.

I had my fabric stored in a cardboard box in a shed and I went to get it and the box and fabric had been eaten by termites. I had to throw away all the fabric, it was moving. So now my fabric stays in the house in plastic tubs.
