I was considering making my mother a quilt using the fabrics from the time she was born. She was born in 1927, in upper Michigan to Finnish parents. I would love to use fabric from the 20's and then work other aspects of her childhood into the quilt. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the fabrics from the 20's? I find alot from the 30's, but just wondered if there was anything specific from the 20's.

    Thanks for any suggestions.....

How about old sewing machine fabric. I saw some at the quilt show really cool...cars of the era...old appliances they had at the time...you could do so many cool things! A black and white picture fabric pictures of her family/house, schools...how about sports of the time if she is a baseball or other sport fan...golf

My aunt had one of those washing machines..she loved it and would not give it up. She had it until she died in the 80's.

I had one of those washing machines in NYC
It went to washing machine heaven in the late 80s from load after load of fabric washing.
I'd forgotten about my dear Thor. No wonder I don't wash fabric anymore

I am in the learning process of posting pictures. I still need instruction from one of my children. This is also just in the planning stages...Probably won't start until after the holidays...As I am sure most of you are I have many in my head. I start to get weird if I only have the project I am working on....I feel better when I know what projects are to come.....
I love the boob story....My mom's story was that my grandmother walked to town with the family cow and traded it for the wringer washer. Its been a mystery as to how she got it back home!! They had 13 children so I guess the washer was more important than the cow!
