Thank you all who responded!! There are some great ideas here! Tartan, I'd thought about using a cover and probably will... that or put plain placemats over the quilt top... It's a scrappy, utility piece so I wasn't too worried about it... don't want the guests to worry either, so I'll probably cover it. The seam rippers is a fantastic idea... even non-sewers can use them occasionally! Mug rugs! I've been wanting to play with them and a friend and I will be "playing" on Thursday and I have tomorrow off... LOVE the "thumb-cushion" Polyparrot!! will be attempting at least one of these!!! and PABerard... redneck wineglasses... hilarious!! too cute!!
