The 'celebrity' quilters I favor are not on television. They are the Master Quilters, the Century Quilters, and the Hall of Famers who show their work around the world in exhibitions, galleries and museums. Hollis Chatelain, Michael James, Ruth McDowell, Jean Ray Laury, Nancy Crow, Nancy Halpern, Libby Lehman, Jane Sassaman, and dozens of other greats. I am in awe of their work and can stare at their quilts for hours on end. Ground breakers all.

Those are my quilt shows as well. I don't get to watch them very often though - Saturday mornings are busy around here.

She's not on anymore but Georgia Bonesteel is the one who got me started on my quilting journey. I have to say Jenny Doan is my current favorite, although I watch all the others who were mentioned. Didn't get cable in time to catch any of Simply Quilts but wish I had.

I have U-Verse and we don't get any quilt shows. Once in awhile Sew It comes up on public TV. Use to get them all when on Dish.

Simply Quilts was my favorite and is the one I miss the most. Our PBS stations have only one quilting show per week -- at 5 AM on Create. I loved the guests that appeared on SQ as well as Alex. The few times that I attended the Martha Pullens School in Huntsville and the Sewing Market in Arlington, I was privileged to have classes and meet Alex Anderson, Sue Hausmann, Kaye Wood, and Clotilde. There was another quilter that I loved but her name escapes me at the moment. She did such creative things with the nine patch. She had blond hair which was worn straight with bangs. Oh, and there was Mary Ellen HOpkins of "The It's Okay if you Sit on my Quilt Book." Who can forget Mary Ellen and her practical approach to strip quilting. AND ---the Quilt! Quilts!! Quilts!!! gals, Diana McClun and Laura Nownes. Laura Nownes is doing the BOM on Craftsy this year.

What would I do without Jenny?! And Amy Gibson on Craftsy was also great.

There is just news today that Mary Ellen Hopkins has passed away--July 9, 2013. RIP Mary Ellen. You taught a lot of us quick and easy methods of quilting and it is okay to sit on my quilt because I can make another one and have fun doing it!
