One other thing to consider is sticking with the same brand - as the way the rulers are marked can make the inches appear to measure differently. I learned that the hard way on my first quilt project - and after reading Harriet Hargrave's description of rulers in the Quilter's Academy it suddenly made sense.

    Cheers, K

I also love my 3 x 18 and 4 x 14, off the top of my head I think that is the length.

I did just order the June Tailor Shape and Cut Plus ruler from their website. Cutting strips accurately always drives me crazy, so this tool will be wonderful for me!

It cuts strips, squares, triangles and diamonds so easily in mass quanities. Kind of like chain stitching.

My teacher at my quilt shop had me use it on my borders and I loved it so much I went out and bought 2.

Here is a demo of the product:

This is my absolute favorite!!! Had it for years and don't know what I would do without it. I also love my little 1x6 use it all the time. Then there's my 48" t-square (stole from DH) that I use to cut borders with (just try to take this one back). All my others basically sit in envy!!  Use me, is it my turn yet?

I'm a serious ruler and acrylic template piggy (oink, oink) so I won't bother telling you about most of them. The ones I use most often and can't live without are the two sizes you have (2 each of those), a 6-1/2" x 12-1/2", a 9-1/2" square, a 20-1/2" square, + a 48'' x 2'' one. I generally buy big pieces of fabric (many yards) and I have a long, wide cutting table & mat; by placing the rulers strategically, I can get the fabric straight, flat, and am able to cut a lot of length & width without needing to move the fabric.

I have a ton of rulers but my favorites are the 6 1/2" square & the 6 1/2" x 24". Use them the most. Also have a 12 1/2" square for squaring up bigger blocks. If I would of known this when I first started quilting I could of saved alot of money! LOL
