I guess I did heal pretty quick but the pain remained in my mind for a long time!!!! Just recently, I was cutting a piece of fabric and sliced the side of that same thumb right NEXT to the nail but thankfully not thru it!!!

I was 5 or 6. I was playing with a little red sewing machine. I was positioning fabric under the needle when my little brother turned the wheel and drove the needle right down through the middle of my fingernail. The neighbor heard me screaming. She came over and pulled my hand away from the machine. The needle broke off inside my finger. Had to go to the hospital to have it removed.

Oh my! I did the exact thing at age 5. My Mom moved the needle out, though. Then off to the Dr. for a tetanus shot. :-(

in 2003 I sliced my finger, all the way through the nail matrix. It grew back with a permanent seam where I cut it.

Epsom salt works like magic to kill germs and heal cuts.

Thank you so much for sharing your sewing machine needle injury with us. I have done it many times, actually have a small callous on the side of my left index finger. The next time I was in the fabric store, I asked if anyone had actually put the sewing machine needle through their finger. The lady waiting on me said she had and recommended long, curved tweezers. Work like a charm. Now I don't feel so dumb, I'm in good company!
