Flannel Rag Quilt Question

I just finished a denim and flannel rag quilt today and
didn't use batting and it seems heavy enough to me. I'm
sure the denim probably made it heavy enough though.
I realized that I'm not fond of using denim. Don't know
if I will use it again.
